£12,013.20 Won for Machine Operator’s Industrial Hearing Loss

Stanworth Law secured our client £12,013.20 in compensation for his industrial Noise Induced Hearing Loss. Our client, who had worked for 8 years as Centre Lathe Turner in one factory, and for 19 years as a Coating Foreman in another, approached us when he first made the connection between the tinnitus and loss of hearing ability he was suffering from and his former employment. In his first consultation with us, he detailed the equipment he was exposed to daily, and the lack of sufficient hearing protection he had been provided with.

His role was to operate and set up centre lathes to produce metal components. At work, he was surrounded by noise in all directions emitted from machinery such as lathes, horizontal borers, millers, grinders, welders and the hammering of steel. His other role was to operate large industrial coating machine, which also exposed him to excessive noise. Neither of our client’s employers ever provided him with hearing protection or warned him about the dangers of continued noise exposure.

Upon hearing this, we were confident that our client could successfully claim for Noise Induced Hearing Loss. Whilst keeping our client updated every step of the way, we build a cohesive, evidence-based case wherein we collated all types of evidence such as employment records and also instructed an NHS-certified ENT surgeon to create a medical report. This report evaluated how much of client’s hearing loss could be explained by his age, and the larger part, being explained by noise exposure, and acted to further build our client’s case.
